Keyboard Support

The Sudoku-san and Kakuro-san Assistants have plenty of keyboard support; in fact once you start using our shortcuts you may never go back to the mouse... Here's a quick run-down of how to use the keys.

Browser Wierdness

Before we start - a quick caveat. We can't completely guarantee these all work with every browser, although we've done our best. We're continuing to improve the others and we'll let you know how we get on.

Assistant Keyboard Shortcuts

Navigation

Easy enough - Use the arrow keys to move around the grid.

Deleting Values

If you want to delete just one value from a square, navigate to the square and use the number key to clear the value (the number keys 'toggle' the values - one click adds the number, the next click removes it)

If you want to clear the whole square, navigate to the square and press the 'Delete' or 'Backspace' buttons

Entering Values

Navigate to the square you want to change and then use the number keys to set or clear values from the square.

For example, if you wanted to set the values '3' and '4' on the square, navigate to it and press the '3' key and the '4' key. If you want to then clear the '4', click the '4' key again and it will be cleared.

Tip: If you hold down the CONTROL key when entering a number, it will set that value and clear out all old values from the square.

Setting the 'Sure?' status

When you have a square down to one possibility you can mark it 'unsure' by pressing the space bar. Pressing space again will mark it 'sure' again.
